What actually happened
One snap. That is all Cincinnati needed at the Superdome.
The Bengals took over on their own 40, down two, with a little over two minutes left. Burrow went straight for the throat: Ja'Marr Chase on a short throw, sixty yards after the catch, end zone. The two-point try failed, which left the lead at four instead of six — a detail nobody remembers now that the score held.
New Orleans got the ball back with 1:57 and never scored again. Their last possession died on downs. Cincinnati won 30–26.
The drill looks easy when the first read is open and the receiver is faster than everyone chasing him. It almost never looks like that. What made this one work was the decision to take the shot immediately instead of spending forty seconds dinking to the sideline, and Burrow had the arm and the receiver to make it pay.
Two minutes is a lot of time. Sometimes you only need one of the snaps.
